This week we have spent some time addressing student concerns about the COVID19 pandemic.  Students have been quite worried and anxious.  We have reminded them that for most people this is a mild flu and that they don't need to be stressed about it.  We have discussed proper hand washing and healthy habits that will help prevent the spread of this virus and other colds and flus.  Please take time this weekend to talk with your children and to ease their anxiety at this very stressful time.  One helpful tool we have been using is talking about what our anxiety tells us vs. what we know to be true.

Today room 6 & 7 did a study of the author Barbara Reid.  We read some of her books, watched a video of her teaching us how to make her plasticine illustrations.  We then created our own plasticine illustrations.

Next week our CPS Resource Officer, Gemma Baker, will be in to talk to our classes.  She will be discussing Start Smart Stay Safe with the grade 3-4 students and Online Safety with our grade 5-6 students.  We are excited to welcome her into our classrooms.

On Tuesday, March 17th, our student council has planned a "Wear Green Day."  We invite all students to wear green clothing and/or accessories.

Thursday, March 19th, is Jersey Day - Students are invited to wear a jersey or other clothing representing their favourite sports team.

Just a reminder that our Student Led Conferences originally scheduled for next Thursday and Friday have been postponed by CBE.  For more information please see the CBE website or the email sent out to parents on Thursday.  If you have concerns and would like to have a phone conference with us please email us to set up a time.
