Room 6 & 7

Elder Shirley has been with us at Andrew Sibbald over the past few weeks.  She has taught us many amazing things.  She taught us how to hoop dance and showed us how to make Mother Earth and The Eagle.  She showed us many indigenous artifacts and taught us about the buffalo jump. We got to meet Lemon the bear and see his many outfits. Thank you Elder Shirley!

Room 6

This week we went on a community walk with Ms. R and Ms. Carol.  We have been learning about the human body and the organs that make it work.  We have taken many movement breaks and have been working on being able to identify our needs so we can find strategies to help us meet those needs and better regulate ourselves.

Room 7

We have identified the four Zones of Regulation and are working on the strategies we can use to help us stay regulated and in the green zone.

In Social Studies we have been working on Regions of Canada and are now learning about how the federal government works and how the election process works.  Next week we will be looking at the parties running and their platforms.  On Thursday, students will have the opportunity to participate in the Student Vote 2019.  It will be set up the same as an actual polling station.  Students will take on election roles and will vote for the party they feel most represents their beliefs. We will tally the votes on Thursday and send them in to be counted for the official Student Votes results.  Please talk with your children about the election and allow them to join you when you go to vote on the 21st if possible.  In Science we have been learning about Wetlands (Grade 5) and Trees and Forests (Grade 6).  We have continued working on descriptive writing this week.  We signed up for our Sibbald U courses this week and can't wait to get started next Friday!!

Have a great Thanksgiving Weekend!!  Enjoy time with family and friends!
